What is SIRA?
SIRA means The Securities Industry Regulatory Authority, now called the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA). It is the name of a body that combined the regulatory units of the National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD) and New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). This authority was formed to govern business practices between securities brokers and the investing public, regulating both its members and the affiliated market. SIRA certification ensures that the CCTV installation in your building or facility is in good condition, as per guidelines, and up-to-date with the latest technologies specified by SIRA. Though it is now mandatory having SIRA-certified CCTVs for the proper installation of security surveillance systems at the building facilities, very few of the companies have opted for it. You can apply for SIRA in Dubai when you come into the United Arab Emirates. There are two approaches to applying for SIRA in Dubai: First is when you are hired by a security company. Then they will send you to the Security Cadre Training Centre” (SCTC) to obtain the license. And secondly, when you go to the SCTC yourself and subscribe to the training course and upon completion, you would receive the license.
You apply for a license at the agency headquarters after installing the cameras in the entrance and reception. The cameras connected to the screen should be installed in the forefront of the salon so that customers will know that the place is monitored by CCTV.
You must provide a properly completed application and complete evidence before the agency can process your application. Agency only accepts original documents certified by the custodian. Your trade license should include security activity. Security personnel should apply according to activity through the electronic portal except for the Event Security Guard card in case the trade license does not include activity.
SIRA is a governmental body responsible for the regulation and supervision of the security industry in Dubai. SIRA is an acronym for “Security Industry Regulatory Agency” which came into existence under Dubai’s Law Number 12 of 2016. The agency took over the responsibilities of the Department of Protective Systems (DPS) of Dubai Police. And since then SIRA is vested with the power to set general policies for Dubai’s security industry. It also sets the specifications and standards that companies must comply with, to get installation approval.
If you do not have the owner’s consent to install a tracking device on someone’s car, then you must obtain a court order or court authorization to install the tracking device. If you are not a police officer “who can illegally install a tracking device in the course of a criminal investigation”, you can install a tracking device from companies licensed to provide monitoring and tracking services.
